KATHMANDU – The Nepali gold market witnessed a notable uptick over the past week, with prices climbing by NPR 2,900 per tola, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association.

The trading week opened on Chaitra 20 with gold priced at NPR 294,000 per tola. By the closing of the week on Friday, Chaitra 27, the price had reached NPR 296,900, marking a steady overall increase despite mid-week fluctuations.
The Federation provided a detailed breakdown of the daily price movements:
- Chaitra 22 (Sunday): Prices remained stable.
- Chaitra 23 (Monday): A significant drop of NPR 2,600, bringing the rate to NPR 291,400.
- Chaitra 24 (Tuesday): A slight recovery of NPR 400, trading at NPR 291,800.
- Chaitra 25 (Wednesday): A massive surge of NPR 7,200, pushing the price to NPR 299,000.
- Chaitra 26 (Thursday): A correction saw prices fall by NPR 4,200 to NPR 294,700.
- Chaitra 27 (Friday): The week concluded with a gain of NPR 2,200, settling at NPR 296,900.
Expert Analysis
Local bullion traders noted that while the price has risen, the current trend remains relatively moderate compared to previous spikes where gold crossed the NPR 300,000 milestone.
Interestingly, industry experts pointed out that ongoing conflicts in the Middle East have not exerted as much pressure on local gold rates as previously anticipated. Currently, market analysts describe the recent fluctuations as “average” compared to the high volatility seen in earlier months.
